The streets of Ljubljana were flooded with runners yesterday, for the 26th time in a row. After the epidemic, the event was back in its full form with the Lumpi and school runs for children. We were delighted to see that some of our runners were among the crowds.
Every year, the Ljubljana Marathon attracts many runners to the streets of Ljubljana to compete in the 42 km marathon, the 21 km half marathon and the 10 km run. As in the years before the epidemic, the number of runners was once again high – more than 10,000, which is twice as much as the previous year.
Until 28 October, the charity Pink Marathon is taking place too. You can run the official route of 10, 21 or 42 km of the Volkswagen Ljubljana Marathon at any time during the Pink October, alone or with company. Timing Ljubljana and the marathon sponsors will donate one euro to the Europa Donna Slovenia fund for every runner registered for the Pink October Marathon. Runners and everyone else are also invited to donate.
Our colors were represented again this year by our employees and family members, although in slightly smaller number than previous years. Both of them took part in the 10 km run. They did not expect to win a gold medal, but they achieved much more by pushing the limits of their own performance. Congratulations!
Top results, records, heroism, personal victories, socialising and high spirits marked the event. Even if you were just standing by the track, you couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by the exceptional atmosphere, which encourages you to take part in recreation and be active.
