One last ride together before winter
This weekend, Slovenia was all about cycling. While the best cyclists competed at the European Championship, our cycling team also took the opportunity to enjoy one last group ride before winter.
This weekend, Slovenia was all about cycling. While the best cyclists competed at the European Championship, our cycling team also took the opportunity to enjoy one last group ride before winter.
Our cycling team loves getting on their bikes. But it is not only about clocking up more kilometers, although a friendly comment about distance, pace or elevation certainly happens from time to time. Cycling is a combination of time spent outdoors, the joy of movement, a sense of what the body can do, and taking care of one’s health.
Group cycling has a special charm of its own. Partly because of the company, partly because of the pace that pulls you forward, and partly because riding in the slipstream is always a little easier. This year, the team also took part in several organized cycling challenges, including the Franja Marathon and L’Étape Slovenia, where they showed endurance, good spirits and a healthy dose of competitiveness.

For their final group ride, they chose the Karst and completed a 75-kilometre circular route starting in Sežana. The route took them past Štanjel, Kobdilj, Kostanjevica, Komen and Tomaj, along rolling Karst roads where every descent is quickly followed by another short, steep climb. The pleasant autumn sunshine, beautiful views and good energy created just the right atmosphere. And, of course, no true Karst ride would be complete without a glass of local Teran at the end. The Karst at its best — simply picture perfect.
The cycling season will now slowly move to indoor trainers and other forms of exercise. But we know our cyclists. Even if they spend a little less time on the roads during winter, they will certainly already be looking ahead to new kilometers, new climbs and the next shared challenges.
